Amelia Higgs is an associate in our family law group. She is experienced in a wide range of matters including parenting disputes, property settlements, child support issues, binding financial agreements, same-sex relationship protection, and divorce.
Although she regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Courts of Australia, Amelia focuses on resolving matters without the need for contested litigation. She has a reputation for developing strong client relationships. She delivers outcomes which are tailored to the individual’s needs and circumstances.
Amelia has worked as a research fellow at the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute and published a report examining the legal issues surrounding potential Tasmanian same-sex marriage laws. She regularly undertakes research work with the University of Tasmania School of Law. Amelia is the co-convenor of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights Tasmania and a member of the Equal Opportunity and Employment Committee of the Law Society of Tasmania. Amelia was a joint recipient of the Law Society's 2016 award for Young Lawyer of the Year.
