Commercial Litigation Property Lawyers

Proud History, Bold Future, Since 1834

Kate Barwick

Associate

Insurance disputes require careful analysis, practical advice and a clear understanding of the client’s objectives.  I work closely with clients to make the issues understandable and support an efficient path towards resolution.

I practise in insurance litigation and assist clients across a range of insurance-related disputes, with a particular focus on workers compensation claims, Motor Accidents Insurance Board matters and public liability disputes.

I regularly appear in the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on workers compensation matters and have experience appearing in civil matters before the Magistrates Court.

I provide clear and pragmatic advice and focus on understanding what my clients are seeking to achieve so we can approach the dispute strategically and efficiently.

Before joining Dobson Mitchell Allport, I was Deputy Associate to Judge Turnbull at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in Hobart and Launceston.  During that time, I assisted with trials and the preparation of judgments, gaining valuable insight into court processes and decision-making.

Outside of work, I enjoy creating art, visiting the beach and spending time outdoors with my dog.
