Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts
The Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts is a living collection of nationally significant Tasmanian colonial paintings, photographs, rare books, manuscripts, English and European decorative arts and furniture. The collection was originally donated in 1965 by the estate of Henry Allport in memory of the Allport family. We are proud to support this unique and historically important collection through the continuing work of one of our Managing Director, David Harper, who chairs the collection’s Management Committee.
Allport Bequest
As well as generously donating a trust for the collection of fine arts and antiques, Henry Allport also created a charitable trust that continues in perpetuity, donating gifts and funds every six months to causes benefiting the people of Hobart.
Three of Dobson Mitchell Allport’s directors David Harper, James Ramsay and Audrey Mills serve as trustees of the Allport Bequest.
