Commercial Litigation Property Lawyers

Proud History, Bold Future, Since 1834

David Ovens

Lawyer

A dispute can become expensive and disruptive if the real issues are not identified early.  I provide clear, commercially pragmatic advice to help clients understand their position and choose the most effective way forward.

I practise across a range of commercial and related disputes, including debt recovery, contractual, property and construction disputes, insolvency and bankruptcy, employment issues and historical child sexual abuse claims.

I work with clients from early intervention through to litigation where required, focusing on practical and effective resolution.

I have a strong interest in advocacy and regularly assist in representing clients across courts and tribunals.  Before joining Dobson Mitchell Allport, I worked as Associate to Deputy President Ellis at the Tasmanian Industrial Commission.

Outside of work, I am a passionate chorister and spend much of my time rehearsing and performing with various groups across Hobart.  When I am not performing, I enjoy comedy and am a boardgame aficionado.
